MINI Cooper brakes squealing only when reversing, anyone know what causes that specifically

This is such a specific and slightly odd symptom that I figured someone here has probably dealt with the exact same thing before, my Cooper only makes a squealing sound when I'm braking in reverse, like backing out of a parking spot or pulling into my garage, but during completely normal forward driving braking is totally silent and smooth without any noise at all, which honestly confused me at first because I assumed if pads were wearing down the noise would be consistent regardless of which direction the car is moving, does anyone know why this kind of directional specific squealing happens, is it related to how the wear indicator tab is positioned and only makes contact in a particular way when the rotor spins in reverse, or is this actually pointing toward something else entirely that just happens to be more noticeable during reverse braking specifically for some reason I'm not understanding, I've had the car about three years now and this is honestly the first time I've experienced anything like this, so I don't have a good reference point for whether this is a common quirky symptom people just live with or something that actually needs prompt attention before it potentially gets worse, while trying to figure out where to get this looked at I found some Al Barsha technicians offering quick MINI Cooper brake pad service which seemed like a good starting point given they'd presumably have more specific familiarity with how MINIs behave compared to a general mechanic guessing based on more common vehicles, has anyone actually experienced this specific reverse only squealing before, and if so did it turn out to be simple pad wear that just happened to manifest that way, or was there something else going on that explained the directional pattern, also is it safe to keep driving normally in the meantime since forward braking still feels completely fine, or should I be more cautious given that something clearly seems off even if it's only showing up in one specific scenario, I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's dealt with this same weirdly specific issue before I bring it in.
